Everything nowadays has a fandom, from Supreme Court justices (RBG, of course), to specific brands (Nike, Subaru, Coca-Cola, you name it), to design styles (cottage-core, anyone?) and personal aesthetics. Prior to the existence of online communities, making it much easier to find other people with the same niche interests, being out-and-proud about your fandom was seen as, well. a little geeky. Look no further than the Star Wars trilogy for an example. The fandom began as an association with the nerdy kids in school but has now spread to the point of people naming their children (and pets) after Star Wars characters.
This Is All Part of the Star Wars Universe Release Year
Following the release of the original movies and the seemingly never-ending stream of prequels and spinoffs, the Star Wars fandom has increased significantly. What is the exact number of movies and TV shows we are referring to? This series consists of 12 main movies: Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999); Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002); Star Wars Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005); Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018); Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016); Star Wars (1977); Empire Strikes Back (1980); Return of the Jedi (1983); The Mandalorian (2019); Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015); Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).); Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker). Though many TV shows have been based on Star Wars, none have had the impact of The Mandalorian, which Disney+ introduced in 2019.
As a result, Star Wars fans are now proud of their fandom, once viewed as socially undesirable. There are many ways to do this – think weddings, houses, costumes, conventions, and parties, to name a few – but one that’s increasing in popularity is naming babies after Star Wars characters. Between all the films and TV shows set in the Star Wars universe, parents can choose from a variety of Jedi names or names inspired by other characters.

You can find a galaxy’s worth of Star Wars names here, sorted by the movie or TV show most closely associated with the character.
